Special Education Teacher - Providence, Rhode Island

Qualifications and Desired Background:
- Active Rhode Island Department of Education Special Education license in the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
- Certified in, or willing to complete within one year of hire, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency to meet Right to Read Act requirements
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary school setting is highly valued
- Strong skills in collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Ability to adapt lessons and instructional strategies for a diverse range of learner abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and support for students with mild-to-moderate disabilities, either in a resource/inclusion capacity or a self-contained classroom
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitoring progress toward established goals
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum, modifying assignments as needed
- Evaluate student performance, maintaining detailed documentation and progress reports
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages growth and independence
