Special Education Teacher in Ringgold, GA

In this role, you will work alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician, providing tailored instruction and support for students with more significant adaptive needs. There is the potential for this assignment to continue in the following school year based on performance.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Special Education GaPSC Certification required, with SPED content through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement
- The district will also consider candidates with pending education credentials
- Prior experience in a self-contained or functional curriculum classroom preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with support staff
- Dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction for high school students following adapted curriculum standards
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and behavior technicians to address students’ academic and behavioral goals
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitor progress, and communicate with families
- Create a safe, supportive classroom culture that encourages progress and participation
- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and planning as needed
- Maintain documentation, assessments, and comply with state and district guidelines
The position offers a full-time schedule (37.5 – 40 hours per week) and a meaningful chance to contribute to students’ growth. The school year runs from early August through late May, with some opportunities for pre- and post-planning.
