Special Education Teacher | Rome, New York

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid state certification in Special Education
- For Pre-K Special Education: Pre-K endorsement is required
- For ELA Special Education positions: Certification in English Language Arts (7-12) is necessary
- For Science Special Education positions: Must hold valid science certification
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Creative, adaptive approach to individualized instruction and lesson planning
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement customized lesson plans to meet the unique academic and social-emotional needs of each student
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Assess student progress, set goals, and modify instruction as needed
- Maintain detailed records and contribute to IEP development and reviews
