Special Education Teacher in Rossville, GA
Discover a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students in a lower-functioning, self-contained special education classroom. This full-time role spans the 2026–2027 school year, with anticipated dates from August 4, 2026, through May 26, 2027, and may include select pre- or post-planning days. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team, including two paraprofessionals and a dedicated Registered Behavior Technician, creating a supportive and structured environment focused on functional curriculum. Outstanding performance may open doors for continued placement in subsequent school years.
Key Qualifications:
- Current (or pending) GaPSC Special Education Certification with SPED content coverage through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required
- Experience working with students in a self-contained special education setting strongly preferred
- Ability to craft and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to a range of abilities
- Patience, creativity, and strong communication skills for working with students, staff, and families
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction to students following an adapted, functional curriculum
- Collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals and behavioral support staff to optimize student learning
- Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment that maximizes student independence
- Track student progress, update IEP documentation, and participate in meetings as needed
- Participate in professional development and collaborate with broader school staff
