Qualifications:
- Valid EMD (Emotional/Multiple Disabilities) license required
- Previous experience in Special Education classrooms strongly preferred
- Familiarity with accommodating diverse learning needs and developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with paraprofessionals and resource staff
- Ability to create a nurturing, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Lead instructional activities for approximately 12 high school students, and a separate elementary classroom with about 6 students supported by 2 classroom assistants
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's abilities and needs
- Collaborate with classroom assistants, staff, and families to coordinate student development, support behaviors, and monitor progress
- Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes emotional, social, and academic growth
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with relevant parties
