Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher supporting a dedicated elementary classroom near Sebastopol, CA. This rewarding contract role is designed for an educator with expertise in Special Education who is ready to step in and provide high-quality instruction and support to a caseload of 10 students (with the potential of up to 12 students). You'll collaborate closely with three paraeducators in your classroom, and join a supportive team with three additional Special Day classes on campus.
Key Qualifications:
- Active California teaching credential in Special Education, Mod/Severe emphasis strongly preferred (Mild/Mod may be considered for short-term assignments)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in 2nd or 3rd grade
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction and build strong connections with students of varying needs and abilities
- Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs), progress monitoring, and collaboration with IEP teams
- Positive communication skills and a collaborative mindset
What You’ll Do:
- Provide high-quality, personalized instruction to students with moderate to severe needs
- Work with paraeducators to implement student supports and classroom routines
- Track student progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
- Partner with other Special Day class teachers for cross-support and planning
- Maintain strong relationships with students’ families and related service providers
This assignment begins as soon as possible and will run through the end of the current school year, or to be determined as coverage for a leave. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact on the academic, social, and emotional growth of your students.
