Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Tennessee teaching license, with 461 Special Education endorsement
- Previous experience working in a self-contained special education classroom is highly preferred
- Strong classroom management skills that foster a supportive and effective learning environment
- Effective collaborator, able to communicate clearly and partner with families, fellow educators, and support staff
- Deep commitment to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional growth of middle school students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction tailored to each student’s unique needs and abilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging their participation and celebrating their successes
- Work closely with families, school administrators, and support staff to ensure student goals are met
- Create and maintain a safe, structured classroom where all learners feel valued
- Track and report on student progress, adapting strategies to maximize achievement
