This rewarding, contract-based opportunity begins September 9, 2026 and extends through June 26, 2027. With several openings available, you'll play a vital role in shaping educational experiences onsite at a supportive district near Salem, OR. Full-time schedules (37.5 hours per week) and assignments will be matched to your background and interests—whether you thrive leading a middle school life skills class, working with developmental or behavioral programs at the elementary level, or supporting a range of unique learners.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing individualized instruction to students as outlined in IEPs
- Designing and adapting curriculum to meet developmental, life skills, and behavioral goals
- Leading, supervising, and collaborating with instructional assistants within the classroom
- Managing a variety of caseloads, including behavioral, life skills, and developmental-focused classrooms
- Documenting student progress, maintaining records, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Engaging and supporting students who are non-verbal or require functional routines
- Communicating with families and participating in IEP meetings
- Maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (appropriate for K-12 in Oregon or eligible for reciprocity)
- Previous experience in special education settings, with preference for those experienced in behavioral health, developmental, or life skills programs
- Strong classroom management, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow teachers, instructional assistants, and related service providers
- Flexibility and commitment to serving a diverse student population
- Willingness to provide references from your three most recent supervisors (Name, Title/School, Email)—this is required for consideration
