This full-time contract opportunity offers you the chance to guide students in grades 6–8, utilizing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for a small, self-contained group.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and classroom support to middle school students in a Life Skills self-contained setting
- Design and implement lesson plans tailored to individual needs, fostering both academic and life skills growth
- Develop, write, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); track student progress and update plans as needed
- Collaborate closely with related service providers, families, and other school staff to ensure student success
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning and developmental needs
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom atmosphere that encourages respect, empathy, and independence
- Employ a variety of interventions and behavior management techniques aligned with student IEPs
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with middle school students, especially in self-contained or Life Skills classrooms
- Strong understanding of IEP development, monitoring, and compliance
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials to diverse abilities
- Commitment to fostering a positive, student-centered environment
