Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement required
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting strongly preferred
- Autism experience and knowledge of ABA principles or behavioral strategies essential for the Affective Needs role
- Familiarity with functional behavioral assessments (FBA), behavior intervention plans (BIP), and special education math is strongly preferred
- Comfortable leading or collaborating with paraprofessional teams
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills; CPI training a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support to students with mild/moderate or more severe emotional and behavioral disabilities (based on assignment)
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with families and service providers
- Teach, adapt, and assess curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and emotional needs
- Lead, mentor, and collaborate with paraprofessional aides and related services staff
- Employ data-driven strategies and evidence-based interventions, including behavioral supports
- Participate in school and district meetings, professional development, and team collaboration
- Complete timely district-specific credentialing and documentation requirements
