Special Education Teacher - Trinity, North Carolina

Step into a vital educational role supporting students with diverse learning needs across both elementary and high school adaptive (functional skills) classrooms. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, providing specialized instruction as the teacher of record for a caseload of 15 students—6 at the elementary level and 9 in high school. Both settings are on the same campus and benefit from an experienced, unlicensed teacher facilitator who will assist with instruction and compliance standards.
As the dedicated educator, you’ll plan, deliver, and document individualized instruction while collaborating with support staff and ensuring all compliance requirements are met. Hours are flexible, ranging from 32 to 36 per week, providing a balanced schedule split between both school levels.
Qualifications:
- Hold current Exceptional Children: Adapted Curriculum (K-12) certification (other EC certifications will also be considered)
- Experience (or strong interest) in adaptive, functional skills settings in either elementary or high school environments
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Previous classroom teaching experience preferred, but candidates with adaptive curriculum expertise are highly encouraged to apply
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the teacher of record for assigned adaptive (functional skills) caseload
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students
- Adapt and modify curriculum for individual learning needs
- Collaborate closely with an experienced facilitating teacher and other support staff
- Maintain regular communication with families and colleagues
- Support compliance with all special education standards and documentation
