Key qualifications and experience:
- Valid credential in Extensive Support Needs (or Moderate/Severe Special Education)
- Experience teaching or supporting elementary students with autism, preferably in a classroom setting
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and individualized instruction
- Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse needs
- Collaborative approach when working with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
What you’ll do:
- Provide direct instruction to an elementary SCSB (Autism) class, currently serving 11 students (class size may vary)
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
- Create a structured and positive classroom atmosphere that fosters growth and engagement
- Adapt and modify curriculum to accommodate varying learning styles and support needs
- Employ a variety of strategies to promote social, emotional, and academic success
- Collaborate with team members, participate in IEP meetings, and maintain accurate documentation
- Communicate regularly with families to support student progress and foster partnerships
This contract runs through the end of the school year, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible and an end date of 6/9/27. You'll work five days per week in a supportive setting dedicated to the success of students with autism.
