Special Education Teacher | Wappingers Falls, New York
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by supporting their growth as a dedicated Special Education Teacher in self-contained classrooms located in the scenic New Windsor area. You'll work closely with a small group of 6–12 students per class, alongside a collaborative team of classroom professionals. Students in these programs are referred by local public schools, and some may have individualized behavior plans, allowing you to develop targeted interventions that cater to each child's unique needs.
Current opportunities include roles for a Kindergarten Special Education Teacher (Monday–Friday, 8:30–3:30) and an SFP Special Education Teacher (Monday–Friday, 8:00–3:00). Both positions are contract-based and offer the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where every day brings new opportunities to foster growth and success.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification (Early Childhood and K–12 certifications preferred)
- Experience working with students who have diverse learning or behavioral needs
- Ability to create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborative spirit, with excellent communication skills to work alongside other educators and staff
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Current state clearances and eligibility to begin work promptly
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction within a self-contained classroom setting
- Collaborate with classroom aides and related service providers
- Monitor, record, and report student progress toward IEP goals
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a variety of learning and behavioral needs
- Communicate effectively with families and school personnel
