Desired Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary (as required for the position).
- Commitment to compliance with the Right to Read Act: Must currently possess, or be prepared to attain within one year, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency certification.
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in special education preferred.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for creating accessible, differentiated instruction and a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet students’ educational goals.
- Adapt general education curricula for students with varied needs and abilities.
- Foster a positive, respectful classroom climate where every student feels encouraged and supported.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support professionals, families, and administrators.
- Track student progress and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
- Participate in professional development and remain current on best practices and regulatory requirements.
