Special Education Teacher | Waterbury, Connecticut
Step into a rewarding contract role as a full-time Special Education Teacher, covering a maternity leave from October 1st through March 1st, with the potential for the assignment to extend. This position offers the unique opportunity to work with both elementary and middle school students, allowing you to impact a diverse group of learners while collaborating with a dynamic team in a supportive school environment.
In this role, you will:
- Split your caseload between elementary and middle school students
- Design and deliver tailored instruction to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Track student progress, documenting and reporting as required
- Adapt lessons to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Engage meaningfully in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
We are seeking candidates with:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- An active Special Education teaching license/certification for Connecticut
- Previous experience supporting elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Strong skills in communication, organization, and classroom management
