Special Education Teacher | Winder, Georgia
Take on an impactful role shaping the lives of elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder as a Special Education Teacher, leading a self-contained adapted curriculum classroom. Located near Winder, Georgia, this full-time contract opportunity is designed for educators passionate about fostering independence and growth in students with complex needs.
In this position, you’ll guide students through individualized instruction, employing adapted curriculum standards that cater to diverse learning abilities and behavioral needs. You’ll plan and implement IEPs, collect and analyze student data, and partner closely with paraprofessionals and related service providers to maximize student success. Your classroom environment will prioritize structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement, helping students achieve critical social, communication, and adaptive milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver adapted curriculum instruction tailored to each learner.
- Develop and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Manage classroom routines and effective behavioral supports.
- Collaborate with staff, related services, and families to ensure holistic student progress.
- Utilize data-driven decision making to track and celebrate student growth.
- Differentiate activities and lessons to meet unique learning and behavioral needs.
- Foster development of communication, social, and functional skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Georgia Special Education Certification (required).
- Experience supporting students with Autism.
- Skilled in IEP development and implementation.
- Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention expertise.
- Preferred: Adapted Curriculum certification/experience; background with significant cognitive disabilities and knowledge of ABA, structured teaching, visual supports, and functional communication systems; experience supervising paraprofessionals.
