Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher at the middle school level, providing cross-categorical instructional programming for students with diverse academic, behavioral, communicative, adaptive, and functional needs. You'll help create an inclusive classroom environment where each student receives support tailored to their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and grade-level standards.
In this contract role, you will deliver specialized instruction, utilize structured and visual teaching supports, and implement targeted behavioral, sensory, and social-emotional interventions. Collaboration is key, as you’ll work with related service providers and a dedicated team—including one program aide and additional 1:1 support staff as needed according to students’ IEPs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) for the state
- Experience working in a cross-categorical classroom or with a variety of student needs, preferred
- Knowledge of IEP implementation and documentation
- Strong skills in differentiation, behavior management, and using a wide range of instructional and support strategies
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, positive learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with grade standards and student IEPs
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adapting instruction as needed
- Incorporate structured, visual, and sensory supports into daily instruction
- Implement behavioral and social-emotional strategies to enhance student engagement and growth
- Collaborate with program aides, related service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Maintain clear communication and documentation in accordance with school and district guidelines
