This contract opportunity involves providing specialized instruction to learners with diverse academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs. Your expertise will foster student progress aligned with grade-level standards, while ensuring Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals are met with intentional, individualized strategies.
Success in this position means leveraging structured teaching, visuals, behavioral and social-emotional interventions, and communication and sensory supports. You’ll collaborate closely with related service providers and be supported by a program aide, with additional 1:1 staff as dictated by student IEPs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification for Illinois
- Experience with cross-categorical special education and diverse learner profiles
- Skilled in implementing differentiated instruction across academic and functional domains
- Ability to create and deliver lessons targeting both grade-level standards and IEP goals
- Proficient in using structured teaching supports, adaptive technology, and visual supports
- Strong collaboration skills with staff, families, and related service providers
- Commitment to fostering positive student relationships and inclusive learning environments
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for students with varying needs
- Utilize a range of intervention strategies and supports, including behavioral, communication, social-emotional, and sensory techniques
- Monitor progress and collect data to inform instruction and update IEP goals
- Work collaboratively with program aides, IEP team members, and related service providers
- Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Communicate regularly with families and school staff
