Special Education Teacher - Arlington, VT

Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification for the state (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges preferred
- Strong knowledge of individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Ability to foster a supportive, positive classroom environment dedicated to meeting each student’s unique needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and related service providers
- Great organizational skills for managing documentation and progress monitoring
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and modify IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction for middle school students in an ED classroom setting
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to promote positive behavior and social-emotional development
- Maintain detailed records on student progress and adjust plans as needed
- Partner with classroom aides, counselors, and other staff to provide comprehensive support
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding progress, strategies, and goals
- Supervise and create a safe, structured classroom environment
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings
