Key Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working in a self-contained classroom environment
- Knowledge of and ability to address severe behavioral needs
- Demonstrated skill in writing effective Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Prior training in restraint techniques is highly preferred
- Comfortable collaborating with school teams, support staff, and families
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and behavioral support to students with intensive needs, K-6
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavioral and academic plans
- Maintain a structured, supportive classroom that fosters academic and social development
- Utilize appropriate interventions and crisis prevention strategies when necessary
- Collect data and evaluate student progress, adjusting supports as needed
- Prepare and participate in IEP and multidisciplinary meetings
- Effectively communicate student needs, goals, and progress with team members and parents
- Stay updated on best practices and compliance requirements in Special Education
