About the Position
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and specialized support to students with disabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators, families, and related service professionals to create an effective and supportive learning environment.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide specially designed instruction based on individual student needs
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments
- Monitor and document student academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Implement positive behavioral and classroom management strategies
- Provide accommodations and modifications outlined in student IEPs
- Maintain accurate special education documentation
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and Vermont special education requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Vermont educator license with the appropriate Special Educator endorsement for the assigned grade level
- Completion of an approved educator preparation program or applicable alternative pathway
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and specially designed instruction
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
- Successful completion of required background screening and district onboarding requirements
