This rewarding opportunity focuses primarily on elementary students in self-contained classrooms, with some openings in high school settings. Successful candidates will work with small groups—typically 4–6 students per class—to provide individualized support for learners with diverse needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Alabama Special Education licensure (verify at https://tcert.alsde.edu/Portal/Public/Pages/SearchCerts.aspx)
- For elementary roles: Certification in grades K–6
- For secondary roles: Certification in grades 6–12
- Experience supporting students with various disabilities
- Patience, adaptability, and dedication to inclusive learning environments
- Willingness to work onsite throughout the contract period
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in self-contained classrooms, focusing on each child’s unique strengths and needs
- Maintain clear and effective communication with other educators, parents, and support staff
- Develop, implement, and track Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Manage up to 10 students per class, ensuring a safe, positive, and constructive atmosphere
- Collaborate on school-wide initiatives to promote academic and social-emotional success for all students
