We are seeking dedicated and passionate Exceptional Education (Special Education) Teachers to join a supportive school district team in Birmingham, Alabama. As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide individualized instruction, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and develop meaningful learning experiences that support student growth in both elementary and high school settings.
Position Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Provide specialized instruction aligned with student goals and state standards
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Special Education or related field
Active Alabama Special Education Teaching Certification or eligibility to obtain certification
Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Previous school-based experience preferred, but qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply
Candidates must possess the appropriate teaching certification and endorsement corresponding to the grade levels they will be serving.
• Elementary Positions: Candidates must hold a valid K–6 endorsement.
• Secondary Positions: Candidates must hold a valid 6–12 endorsement.
Candidates who hold both endorsements are encouraged to apply; however, the endorsement must align with the age group and grade levels associated with the position for which they are being considered.
