About the Opportunity
Blazer Jobs is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a supportive school district in Birmingham, Alabama for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. Position Details
- Primary focus on Elementary Self-Contained classrooms
- Self-contained classrooms have no more than 10 students, allowing for individualized support and instruction
- Additional opportunities available at the secondary (high school) level
- Work alongside a team of educators, paraprofessionals, and support staff to provide high-quality instruction and student support
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Provide differentiated instruction tailored to students’ unique learning needs
- Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Track student progress and maintain compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
Qualifications
- Active Special Education Licensure required (Alabama or eligible)
- Elementary positions: Must be certified for K–6
- Secondary positions: Must be certified for 6–12
- Previous school-based or self-contained classroom experience preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
