What You’ll Bring:

  • Valid Illinois Special Education Certification and Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Experience working with behavioral challenges such as eloping, defiance, physical aggression, and refusal behaviors
  • Passion for fostering positive behavioral change through evidence-based practices
  • Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service staff in a dynamic classroom environment
  • Commitment to ongoing learning—training in CPI de-escalation is provided for all staff

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction for no more than 13 students per class, grades 3–5 or 6–8, alongside two paraprofessionals
  • Implement strategies focused on teaching replacement behaviors, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate closely with support staff and families to ensure consistent behavioral supports and progress monitoring
  • Maintain accurate data on student progress, proactively adjusting interventions as needed
  • Participate in professional development, including comprehensive CPI de-escalation training (note: this is a non-restraint-based program)
