Requirements and Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement in Illinois
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a self-contained special education setting is strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of instructional strategies for students with diverse learning and developmental needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with families, staff, and support teams
- Ability to adapt lessons, activities, and assessments to individual student needs
- Dedicated to creating an inclusive, structured, and nurturing classroom
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on students' IEP goals
- Implement evidence-based methods to support academic, behavioral, and life skills development
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and regularly communicate with families and educational teams
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom culture that promotes student learning and social-emotional development
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional plans to meet each learner’s unique needs
- Participate in IEP meetings, team collaborations, and professional development sessions
