An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support a Pre-K program servicing children aged 3–5 with diverse and significant needs. This role, available now through May 2027, is a full-time contract position offering the chance to engage, nurture, and guide students at a formative stage in their development.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate with both Special and General Education Endorsements for Pre-K age groups
- Experience supporting young children with significant needs, especially those who may be non-verbal or exhibit challenging behaviors
- Comfortable assisting with daily living skills, such as toilet training, diapering, and feeding
- Adaptability and patience to foster learning in an inclusive environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and observation skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligning with each child’s IEP goals and developmental level
- Support students with basic care tasks including toileting, feeding, and hygiene routines
- Utilize a variety of communication methods and adaptive strategies for non-verbal and low-verbal students
- Create a nurturing, positive atmosphere where every student feels safe and engaged
- Collaborate closely with paraeducators, therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Monitor progress, document observations, and participate in IEP meetings as required
