Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensure or certification as a Special Education Teacher required
- Previous experience working with students eligible under autism (AU) is highly valued
- Comfort supporting non-verbal or limited-verbal students, including implementing augmentative and alternative communication strategies
- Familiarity with positive behavior supports and strategies for students with behavioral needs
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively alongside paraprofessionals and other team members
- Compassionate, patient, and flexible approach tailored to each student’s needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and individualized support for a classroom of 6 students
- Foster a supportive and structured environment for social communication development
- Develop and implement IEP-related goals in alignment with student strengths and areas of growth
- Collaborate daily with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Utilize creative and adaptive approaches for building social and academic skills
- Incorporate communication tools and behavioral supports as needed
