This contract position offers the opportunity to work full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., starting as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the academic year.
You’ll work with a small class of up to 8 students ages 5-12, each with unique strengths and needs, including those with autism, intellectual disabilities, and multiple disabilities. You'll collaborate with a dedicated Educational Assistant, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Active Special Education Teaching certification (Ohio preferred)
- Experience teaching K-5 students with significant support needs (Autism, Intellectual Disability, Multiple Disabilities)
- Ability to create and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff and families
- Patience, flexibility, and creativity in instructional approaches
- Passion for making a difference in the lives of students with disabilities
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans to address diverse learning needs
- Modify curriculum and adapt materials for accessible instruction
- Monitor student progress proactively and document growth
- Work closely with the Educational Assistant and related service providers
- Communicate regularly with families and team members
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
