K-5 Special Education Teacher - Cohoes, New York

Several contract positions are available for Special Education Teachers focusing on Grades K-5 with year-round schedules, supporting students in Autism programs. From July 13th, 2026, through June 24th, 2027, these roles offer the chance to teach in a dynamic school setting that follows traditional holiday and spring break closures.
Three openings are available within specialized elementary programs:
- K-2 Autism Program
- 1st-3rd Autism Program
- 3rd-5th Autism Program
Each position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (with a 30-minute unpaid break), totaling about 35 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Current New York State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities), or eligibility to obtain certification—new graduates with a Master’s degree and candidates needing license transfer will be considered.
- Bachelor’s level applicants are welcome; preference is given to those holding a Master’s degree.
- Previous experience writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is essential.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting elementary-aged students with Autism.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans consistent with IEP goals.
- Foster a supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including families and related service providers.
- Track student progress and maintain timely, accurate documentation.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and work flexibly within Autism support programs.
Compensation is offered within a competitive hourly range from $35 to $47, reflective of credentials and experience.
