Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher for elementary students in a supportive school environment. This contract position runs year-round, starting July 13th, 2026, through June 24th, 2027, with traditional holiday and spring breaks observed. With three openings, you'll have the opportunity to specialize in one of the following programs: K-2 Autism, 1st-3rd Autism, or 3rd-5th Autism. The role is based near Schenectady, NY, with work hours of 8am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid New York certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities), or currently progressing toward state licensure
- Consideration given to recent master’s graduates and individuals with an out-of-state license open to transfer
- Bachelor’s degree holders are welcome to apply, with a strong preference for candidates who hold a master’s degree
- Classroom experience in special education, particularly with elementary-aged students on the autism spectrum
- Demonstrated ability to write and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) independently
Primary responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging, differentiated instruction tailored to K-5 elementary students with autism
- Develop, write, and maintain effective IEPs in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
- Utilize data-driven strategies to assess student progress and adjust instructional plans
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment for all learners
- Communicate regularly with families and related service providers to support student growth
