Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) for the secondary grade band.
- Demonstrated expertise or interest in working with students diagnosed with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or severe behavioral needs.
- Willingness to become compliant with the Right to Read Act—candidates must either hold or be prepared to obtain proficiency in Rhode Island Structured Literacy within one year of hire.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted, evidence-based instruction in a self-contained or sub-separate high school classroom setting, tailored to each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Foster a positive, structured, and therapeutic learning environment where students feel supported, respected, and empowered.
- Collaborate closely with related service providers, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote consistent behavioral and academic progress.
- Monitor, document, and report student growth, progress towards IEP goals, and any significant behavioral trends.
- Integrate social-emotional learning strategies and restorative practices into daily routines.
You’ll work 35 hours each week, providing continuity and care for a group of students who benefit most from routine and structure.
