What we’re looking for:
- Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education certification (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary).
- Knowledge or previous experience teaching students in high school settings, particularly those with EBD or severe behavioral needs.
- Compliance with the Right to Read Act: you must hold (or be able to complete within one year) Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency.
- Skill in fostering an inclusive, positive, and structured learning environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
- Plan, adapt, and deliver individualized instruction to students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom.
- Implement behavioral interventions and evidence-based strategies to support student self-regulation and academic progress.
- Collaborate closely with support staff, administrators, and families to create and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Document progress and maintain detailed records according to state and district requirements.
- Participate in professional development to ensure continued growth and compliance with state standards.
