Special Education Teacher | Woonsocket, Rhode Island

Two contract positions are open for skilled educators to work in a specialized classroom setting for the 2026-2027 school year, with placements beginning as soon as possible and continuing through June 18, 2027. These roles focus on working with students in self-contained or sub-separate environments, providing individualized instruction for those with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral needs.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license appropriate for high school grades
- Commitment or current certification aligned with the Right to Read Act; ability to obtain Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire
- Demonstrated success in teaching or supporting students with EBD or intensive behavioral needs preferred
- Strong collaborative and communication abilities to work closely with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in dynamic classroom settings
What You’ll Do:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction to meet diverse learning and behavioral objectives
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with students to foster academic and personal growth
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and evidence-based strategies
- Maintain student records and collaborate on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support
