This contract position offers the opportunity to work onsite with a dedicated caseload in a DLP program, assisting students with intellectual disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities, and developmental delays.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois LBS1 certification required
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher strongly preferred
- Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to create and implement tailored learning strategies
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with staff, families, and support personnel
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet the unique needs of each student
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in the DLP program, focusing on academic, communication, social, and life skills development
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on each student’s IEP goals and objectives
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instruction as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistency and support across settings
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages positive behaviors and student engagement
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives as required
