Special Education Teacher (Elementary Self-Contained Classroom) | Full-Time | Crete, IL | 2026-2027 School Year
- We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher (LBS1) for a full-time opportunity in Crete, Illinois for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will support an elementary self-contained Program for Academics and Life Skills, serving students with diverse learning and developmental needs in a highly collaborative educational setting.

Position Details

- Start Date: August 10, 2026
- End Date: May 28, 2027
- Schedule: Full-Time
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Work Hours: 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM
- School Assignment: 1 School
Interview Format: Virtual Zoom Interview
Classroom & Caseload
- Elementary self-contained classroom
- Program for Academics and Life Skills
- Caseload of up to 13 students
- Supported by 2-3 classroom assistants
Students may have:
- Developmental Delays (DD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Other Health Impairments (OHI)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional programs
- Write and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Conduct educational assessments and student testing
- Monitor student progress and maintain compliance documentation
- Provide academic, behavioral, social, and life-skills instruction
- Collaborate with families, related service providers, and school staff
- Maintain a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to support student success
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Active Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement
- Experience working with students with Autism, Developmental Delays, and other special needs preferred
- Ability to write compliant IEPs and complete evaluations/testing
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent professional presence
