The assignment runs according to the school calendar and is available immediately through late May 2027.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Special Education EC-12 license (ensure active status via the TEA database)
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students or in life skills programs is highly valued
- Strong classroom management abilities, creativity, and patience
- Ability to work well with para-professionals, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Successful completion of district fingerprint background check and drug screen, in addition to standard credentialing
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging instructional plans tailored to the needs of students with intellectual disabilities in a self-contained setting
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to facilitate student growth in academics, daily living, social, and communication skills
- Work closely with teacher assistants to provide individualized support and manage classroom routines effectively
- Collaborate with families, staff, and related service providers to develop and monitor IEP goals
- Maintain accurate student records, document progress, and participate in ARD/IEP meetings
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students
