Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification or credential
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students in a Special Day Class or similar special education setting
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to suit individual student needs
- Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver specialized instruction to middle school students in the SDC program, aligning lessons with IEP goals and state standards
- Modify learning materials and use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
- Collect data to assess student progress and collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, participate in meetings, and maintain detailed documentation
- Provide behavioral support and classroom management, building positive relationships and reinforcing appropriate social skills
- Stay current with best practices in special education and professional development opportunities
