Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential (specifically for SDC or appropriate mild/moderate or moderate/severe credential)
- Experience working with middle school-aged children in a special education setting
- Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
- Expertise in developing, implementing, and tracking Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and school staff
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students in a self-contained Special Day Class environment
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Monitor student progress, manage IEP documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, and administration
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom culture that encourages academic and social growth
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
