Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching credential in Special Education or eligibility for credential
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, ideally with middle school students
- Expertise in lesson adaptation and individualized instruction for diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with staff, students, and families
- Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
- Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a Special Day Class for middle school students
- Develop tailored lesson plans and adapt curriculum to fit individual learning goals
- Support students in both academic and social-emotional development
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administration
- Monitor and document student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies
- Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with school and state requirements
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and advocacy for students and their families
