Special Education Teacher in Des Plaines, IL

The classroom is set in a specialized building devoted to self-contained programs, creating an environment where collaboration and resource-sharing are part of everyday practice.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification appropriate for Illinois
- Background working with elementary-age students with diverse learning needs
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, Unique or STAR curricula
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute to a team-oriented environment
- Dedication to fostering a nurturing, inclusive classroom culture
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction for 4th and 5th grade students in a self-contained classroom
- Adapt materials and teaching methods to meet each child’s IEP
- Foster positive social and academic growth
- Collaborate closely with related service providers and support staff
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians
Work schedule runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:05 am to 3:35 pm, and Wednesday from 8:05 am to 3:50 pm, beginning August 17, 2026 through May 28, 2027, with an option for early onboarding at the new teacher orientation.
