Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education
  • Active state teaching certification in Special Education
  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged children with cognitive impairments and/or significant autism preferred
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and behavior intervention strategies
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and patient approach to teaching diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess student abilities and design tailored lesson plans based on individual needs
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction aligned with IEP goals
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
  • Establish a positive, inclusive, and predictable classroom environment
  • Work closely with families, therapists, and other educators to ensure consistent support
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events
