Special Education Teacher | Flushing, New York

In this role, you’ll work with an intimate 8:1:1 special education class, where both verbal and nonverbal students benefit from your expertise and compassion. School instructional hours are 8:40 AM – 3:00 PM, allowing for a structured yet rewarding workday alongside dedicated educators and support staff.
What’s Required:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Proven experience working with diverse learners in elementary school settings
- Ability to adapt lessons for both verbal and nonverbal students
- Understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
Your Responsibilities:
- Teach and support a small classroom of students in grades 2–3, delivering tailored instruction and interventions
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Differentiate lessons to meet each child’s unique needs and abilities
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Document student progress and maintain current IEP records
- Cultivate a nurturing atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported
