Special Education Teacher | New York, New York

As a valued educator, you will nurture a diverse group of young learners, including both verbal and nonverbal students, offering personalized, evidence-based instruction and a supportive classroom culture. Enjoy a consistent workday with instructional hours from 8:40 AM to 3:00 PM while collaborating closely with colleagues, specialists, and families to help each child reach their fullest potential.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification.
- Experience working in schools with students with special needs, especially in primary grades.
- Demonstrated skill adapting lessons and materials for various learning abilities and communication styles.
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort with both verbal and nonverbal students and a flexible, compassionate approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to each student’s needs.
- Create a nurturing, structured classroom atmosphere promoting academic and social-emotional growth.
- Implement behavioral and communication interventions as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records, contribute to IEP meetings, and monitor progress toward goals.
- Engage regularly with families, paraprofessionals, and support staff.
- Foster inclusion, respect, and a positive environment for all learners.
