Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join a supportive school team in Gloucester, VA. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs while collaborating with general education staff, families, and related service providers to help students reach their academic and personal goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student success.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments to meet students' unique learning needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to support student progress.
- Monitor student performance and maintain accurate documentation of progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individualized education plans.
- Utilize evidence-based behavior management and instructional strategies to promote student engagement and achievement.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Virginia Special Education Teaching License.
- Previous school-based experience is preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
