Special Education Teacher in Great Barrington, MA

This full-time contract role offers the chance to teach in dynamic, substantially separate classrooms, serving K-1st grade students as well as those in the 3rd-5th grade range. You'll collaborate with dedicated educators and benefit from support staff (including RBTs) while guiding students who have significant cognitive and physical disabilities. Some students are on the autism spectrum and may be non-verbal, making experience with applied behavior analysis and specially designed instruction especially valuable in this environment.

Desired Background and Experience:
- Valid Special Education licensure
- Prior experience working with severe/profound caseloads
- Knowledge of specially designed instruction strategies
- Background in applied behavior analysis (ABA) preferred
- Comfort and compassion providing assistance with toileting and physical care
- Experience with non-verbal students and those on the autism spectrum
- Team-oriented approach to collaborating with support staff, therapists, and school professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Deliver instruction tailored to students’ unique learning and behavioral needs
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
- Provide personal care and support, including toileting as needed
- Track progress and communicate regularly with parents and interdisciplinary teams
- Effectively integrate ABA methods as part of classroom management and instruction
