Step into a rewarding role supporting middle school students as a contract Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. In this position, you’ll collaborate with a single school site to guide and empower a focused caseload of six learners beginning August 19 and concluding May 30.
Your expertise will help students who access the general curriculum but face emotional or behavioral challenges that impact their classroom participation. The flexible schedule allows you to adapt your teaching strategies to the needs of the students, ensuring each individual receives the necessary support.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Active Special Education teaching certification
- Proven experience working with students exhibiting emotional or behavioral needs, ideally within a middle school setting
- Strong understanding of the general curriculum and differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and maintain a flexible schedule as student needs evolve
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging learning environment
Daily responsibilities include:
- Instructing and providing classroom support for a manageable caseload of six students across a five-day school week, with a standard day of 7.25 hours
- Developing and adjusting individualized plans that address both academic and behavioral goals
- Collaborating regularly with fellow teachers, counselors, and administration
- Engaging with parents or guardians to update on student progress
- Implementing proactive behavioral interventions and supportive strategies
