Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in a K-3 self-contained classroom. This position offers the rewarding challenge of supporting a caseload of 8-9 students with multi-needs, including severe or profound disabilities and nonverbal or limited language abilities associated with autism. You'll collaborate closely with a dedicated team of 3-4 paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring each student receives personalized and effective support.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Familiarity with teaching students who have severe/profound disabilities and autism
- Strong communication and collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of IEP implementation and differentiation strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and carry out individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs and abilities
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth
- Utilize a variety of communication techniques and assistive technology as needed
- Collaborate regularly with paraprofessionals, therapists, families, and other support staff
- Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and comply with all legal and educational standards
