Special Education Teacher | Los Angeles, California
Make a difference as an Inclusion Specialist supporting students across multiple grade levels in a dynamic, itinerant role near Los Angeles, CA. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to work closely with both elementary and high school students, championing inclusive education and tailoring curriculum for individual needs in a supportive environment.
In this position, you’ll work approximately 30 hours each week, primarily 1:1 or in small groups with students requiring extra assistance. Assignments include working with two K-8 students in a downtown school setting and providing itinerant support to four other students across grades 4 through 10 in various locations. Your expertise will be crucial in modifying curriculum, implementing individualized education plans, and ensuring each student can meaningfully participate in academic and social activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher credential
- Experience designing and modifying curriculum for students with diverse learning needs
- Comfortable working across multiple school sites and grade levels (elementary and high school)
- Strong collaborative skills and an understanding of inclusive education practices
- Knowledge of Welligent is a significant advantage
- Previous experience under a SELPA, especially LAUSD SELPA, is highly desirable
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized support to assigned students in inclusive classroom settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons and create accessible materials
- Maintain documentation of student progress and regularly communicate with IEP teams
- Support students’ social and emotional needs alongside academic development
- Travel between sites as needed to ensure continuity of educational support
