Special Education Teacher in Montrose, CO

Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current Colorado Special Education Generalist license (active and in good standing)
- Prior experience as an IEP case manager, especially with middle school students
- Strong organizational skills and expertise in scheduling, documentation, and compliance
- Proficient with virtual communication platforms and digital documentation tools
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 24-25 middle school students (mild to moderate support needs), plus any new referrals
- Oversee all aspects of IEP case management, including scheduling and leading meetings, ensuring legal compliance, handling referrals and 3-year reevaluations, and managing timely documentation
- Serve as the primary liaison between families, staff, and administration regarding students’ IEPs
- Monitor progress notes, track timelines, and maintain all related records in accordance with regulatory standards
- Adapt to emerging needs, remaining prepared for possible extension of the role should circumstances change
- No direct student instruction or class coverage required
